WHY TADs MATTER FOR BLACK ATLANTA
For decades, Black neighborhoods in Atlanta have faced disinvestmentthe pattern of pulling money, services, and resources out of a neighborhood over many years and displacementwhen lower-income and longtime residents are forced to leave their homes because of rising costs.
Tax Allocation Districts (TADs) are a tool to reverse this trend by ensuring that growth benefits the communities that have been here, not just newcomers.
TADs allow the City to set aside future tax revenue growth for local investments in affordable housing, grocery stores, parks, small business corridors, and safer streets, without raising your current taxes.

THE APPROVAL PROCESS
TAD extensions require approval from all three governing bodies:
Atlanta City Council
Begins deliberationsformal discussions and debates where elected officials review, discuss, and vote on proposed policies as early as April 2026
Fulton County Board of Commissioners
Must also approve TAD extensions
Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education
Must also approve TAD extensions
